The Following Sea is the third book in a series about the Dante family written by Marsha Canham. I had just finished the Iron Rose when I grabbed this book on my . I couldn't put it down...like the two books before it! I absolutely love Marsha's books and the way she draws the reader into her storyline. You can actually feel the wind in your hair and the salt spray on your face as these privateers navigate the open oceans. All three books have strong characters - both male & female - that reach out and make you forget what year and what era we live in. I wish I could've sailed the high seas and romped with the pirates along the Spanish Main. Great job, Marsha!!! Can't wait to read the story about Jonas, Juliet & Gabriel's brother.
The third book in the Pirate Wolf series was not a disappointment! I downloaded this with The Iron Rose so I got to read both of these back to back. Loved them!

The Following Sea is the story of Gabriel and Eva. Gabriel finds Eva alone on a ship that is adrift with all aboard dead except Eva. She had undertaken a mission to find her father after he left her in England to find his fortune in the Caribbean. Gabriel is the son of Simon Dante the Pirate Wolf. Eva is another strong heroine and perfectly suited for Gabriel.

Finding treasure, looking for family, and ultimately finding love, Ms. Canham weaves the dialogue expertly...keeping to the times quite well in my opinion.
I reread the first two books in the series while sitting on the beach listening to the waves crash and then started on The Following Sea. If there were more time on my vacation I'd have reread The Wind and the Sea and Bound by the Heart. NOBODY does seafaring adventure like Ms. Canham. I thoroughly enjoyed this addition to the Pirate Wolf series. If you haven't read the first two, I highly recommend those be read first.

Gabriel Dante's story did not disappoint, and I am anxiously anticipating Jonas' story as well, even if it takes another 8 years, it will be worth waiting for. There is history, action, a dispicable villain, a dashing hero, a gorgeous heroine, a brave adventurous family, and of course, an intense romance... all wrapped up and delivered on a pirate ship on the high seas.
I love Marsha Canham's high seas, swashbuckling romances and have rated them all 5 stars. This one is no exception. It's the third in her Pirate Wolf trilogy, set in 1623 in the tropical waters of the Spanish Main (think the Caribbean), at a time when pirates and privateers went after the enormous wealth being shipped back to Spain in the form of gold, silver, gems and spices via the Spanish treasure fleets. This is the story of Gabriel Dante, Simon and Isabeau Dante's youngest son, a handsome sea captain who has just captured a Spanish galleon.

On his way back to the Dante family headquarters in Pigeon Cay, Gabriel rescues beautiful young Eva Chandler from a ship of death. Gabriel's interest is roused by the English beauty, both her body and the silver coin she carries in a locket, a Spanish coin her father sent her that may have come from a famous treasure ship lost on the Spanish Main. Eva's father, William Chandler, a shipping magnate, sailed to the Caribbean 4 years ago and Eva hasn't seen him since. Desperate to know if he lives, Eva has come looking for him and wants Gabriel's help.

Gabriel is a handsome rogue like his father, the famous Pirate Wolf; and Eva is her own woman, just like Gabriel's mother. So much so, Eva even taunts Gabriel like Isabeau taunts Simon. In other words, Gabriel and Eva are a well-matched pair! Their adventures will have your head spinning. It's like taking a wild ride without leaving home pirates, sunken treasure, battle on land, storms at sea, sword fights and shipboard love, oh yes! Who needs a vacation?...Just read this!

After reading the first two installments of the Dante family Across A Moonlit Sea (Pirate Wolf series) and The Iron Rose (The Pirate Wolf series) I pretty much knew what to expect from this final installment. I was looking forward to this story as I enjoyed the first two books....well, the FIRST installment especially. This story was more of a cross between two movies that I've seen...Romancing the Stone (Special Edition) and The Goonies I mean, it's basically about searching for a lost ship full of treasure while beating all the odds.

This story is about Gabriel Dante and Evangeline Chandler. He's a Pirate son of a Pirate family. She's an English Aristocrat searching for her father who's been missing for four years. They're both on a journey to find a lost ship of treasure. There's little to no romance. It's mostly politics and pirates and treasure hunting. So if you like that type of plot, you'll love this story.

The first chapter of this final installment quickly and efficiently recaps events as we left them in The Iron Rose..so the reader is not lost on past drama. However the Prologue of this book (in my ) was so chopped up and missing so many sentences that it was basically useless and unreadable. The rest of the book was fine until the final 3 chapters. Then again words were gone...just....GONE...pages were empty of dialogue and sentences were few. After enjoying the bulk of the story, the climax left me hanging. If it weren't for the epilogue, I'd still wonder what on earth happened with the main characters.
